Parking in Orchard already costs a fortune — adding EV charging fees can turn a quick top-up into a $30 experience. Here's where the smart money actually plugs in.

Orchard Road's EV charging prices range from surprisingly reasonable to eye-wateringly expensive — and the difference often comes down to which mall basement you pick. The same stretch of road offers DC fast charging at $0.63/kWh and $0.87/kWh, depending entirely on whether you turn left or right at the traffic light. Here's where to plug in for less, and which "premium" locations are best avoided.
Wisma Atria at 435 Orchard Road is the standout value option on this strip — and it's not even close. Two operators run chargers here, and both undercut everything else nearby.
Shell Recharge operates on Level 5:
At $0.63/kWh for DC, this is the cheapest fast charging on Orchard Road. A 30kWh session costs $18.90 — compare that to $25.83 at Tang Plaza, and the gap is stark. The 50kW speed is modest but functional; expect 45–60 minutes for a meaningful top-up.
Strides YTL also has bays on Level 5 and 6:
The Strides YTL DC60 at $0.65/kWh is slightly faster and only marginally more expensive than Shell. With four DC bays and five AC bays spread across two levels, Wisma Atria also offers better availability than most single-level installations.
The catch? Wisma Atria's carpark gets busy during peak shopping hours. But for value-conscious EV drivers, this is the default charging stop on Orchard Road.
ION Orchard at 2 Orchard Turn offers the best combination of speed and price among the 100kW+ chargers in the district. Operated by FastParkNCharge on Level 7:
The DC 100kW at $0.71/kWh is the fastest publicly accessible charger on Orchard Road at a sub-$0.75 rate. A 30kWh session costs $21.30. For EVs that can accept 100kW, this means roughly 20–25 minutes for a solid top-up — significantly faster than Wisma Atria's 50kW option.
The pricing is flat across AC and DC, which is unusual. The AC bays at $0.71/kWh are decent value for shopping-trip charging, though Ngee Ann City's AC option undercuts them slightly.
ION Orchard's carpark is well-signposted and spacious. If you're already planning a shopping trip here, the premium over Wisma Atria ($0.08/kWh) is defensible for the speed gain. As a dedicated charging destination, it's the smart middle ground.
Ngee Ann City at 391 Orchard Road offers the cheapest AC charging in the district. Charge+ operates on Level 7:
The AC 22kW at $0.629/kWh is the cheapest regular-rate AC charging on Orchard Road. For a 30kWh session during a shopping trip, that's $18.87 — barely more than Wisma Atria's DC rate.
The DC 30kW at $0.728/kWh is functional but unexciting. It's adequate for two- to three-hour retail sessions, but if you need fast turnaround, ION Orchard's 100kW at $0.71/kWh is both faster and cheaper per kWh.
Ngee Ann City's real strength is reliability. With four Charge+ bays on Level 7, availability tends to be better than at single-operator locations.
313 @ Somerset at 313 Orchard Road marks the eastern end of Orchard Road's charging strip. Operated by Volt Singapore on Level 7:
The DC 30kW at $0.74/kWh is mid-tier pricing — more expensive than Ngee Ann City ($0.728) and ION Orchard ($0.71), but cheaper than the premium cluster further north. A 30kWh session costs $22.20.
The AC 22kW at $0.66/kWh is reasonable for shopping-trip top-ups. The location serves the Somerset residential and office catchment well — if you live or work near Killiney Road or River Valley, these chargers save you the trek up to ION or Wisma Atria.
Several Orchard Road malls charge premium rates that are hard to justify given the cheaper alternatives nearby.
Wheelock Place at 501 Orchard Road has Shell Recharge AC 22kW at $0.77/kWh. No DC chargers are available here. At $0.77 for AC-only, this is poor value compared to Wisma Atria's DC 50kW at $0.63 or Ngee Ann City's AC 22kW at $0.629.
Paragon at 290 Orchard Road has Shell Recharge on Basement 2:
The DC rate is 24% more expensive than Wisma Atria for the same 50kW speed class. The AC43 at $0.87/kWh is the most expensive AC option in the district — more than double Ngee Ann City's AC rate. Only use Paragon if you're already shopping there.
Triple One Somerset at 111 Somerset Road has SP Mobility on Basement 2:
The DC rate is nearly 23% above Wisma Atria. The AC43 at $0.86/kWh is, like Paragon, among the priciest AC options in the area. Functional for office workers in the building, but not a destination for value-conscious charging.
Orchard Central at 181 Orchard Road has SP Mobility on Level 9:
At $0.8611/kWh for DC, this is 36% more expensive than ION Orchard's 100kW option ($0.71) for the same speed class. A 30kWh session costs $25.83 versus $21.30 at ION Orchard. The only reason to use Orchard Central is if ION Orchard is full and you need 100kW speed.
Far East Plaza at 14 Scotts Road has SP Mobility on Level 6A:
Same pricing as Orchard Central. The carpark is older and narrower than the mall basements nearby, and at $0.86/kWh for DC, there's no price advantage to offset the inconvenience. Skip this unless you're already at Far East Plaza.
Tang Plaza at 310 Orchard Road has SP Mobility on Deck 3b — one of the largest single-location installations on the strip:
The AC-heavy mix makes sense for shoppers staying 2–3 hours, but at $0.7739/kWh, the AC rate is still 23% above Ngee Ann City. The DC bays at $0.8611/kWh are expensive compared to ION Orchard's identical 100kW speed at $0.71. SP Mobility also enforces idle fees after charging completes — factor that in given Orchard Road's parking rates.
The Centrepoint at 176 Orchard Road has SP Mobility on Level 5B:
No AC options. At $0.8611/kWh for DC, this is functional but poor value compared to ION Orchard. Only use as a backup when other 100kW options are occupied.

Note: AC chargers are optimal for overnight or extended-stay charging; DC chargers are for on-the-go fast charging. Speeds and rates are not directly comparable across categories.

What to avoid:
Parking considerations:
Orchard Road's charging options have a clear value hierarchy. At $0.63/kWh, Wisma Atria's Shell DC 50kW is the cheapest fast charging on the strip. At $0.629/kWh, Ngee Ann City's Charge+ AC 22kW is the cheapest AC option. Both are real value in a district where premium locations charge $0.86/kWh for the same electrons.
The smart play: Default to Wisma Atria for DC value. Use ION Orchard when you need 100kW speed at a still-reasonable $0.71/kWh. Use Ngee Ann City for AC charging during long shopping sessions. Treat the $0.86/kWh cluster — Orchard Central, Far East Plaza, Tang Plaza, The Centrepoint — as emergency backup only.
The gap between cheapest and most expensive here is $0.231/kWh on DC charging. On a 40kWh charge, that's the difference between $25.20 and $34.44. In a district where parking already costs a premium, overpaying for charging is a mistake you don't need to make.
