However, the lower price point does come with some trade-offs in the cabin. The Urban forgoes some of the X's signature "wow" features, most notably the high-fidelity 13-speaker Yamaha sound system and the innovative heater/freezer compartment under the centre armrest. These omissions, while understandable, do strip the X of some of its unique character, making the interior feel more conventional.
Curiously, Zeekr has equipped the Urban with standard electric adjustable and ventilated front seats, features that are optional on the mid-range Standard model. While a welcome touch of comfort, it highlights a somewhat unconventional packaging strategy. Competent, Comfortable, but Conventional
On the road, the Zeekr X Urban delivers a driving experience that is competent and comfortable, if not particularly thrilling. The 148bhp motor, paired with 343Nm of torque, provides brisk acceleration for city driving, with a 0-100km/h time of 8.7 seconds. The ride quality is a highlight, with the suspension adeptly soaking up road imperfections, and the cabin remains impressively quiet and refined at speed.
The Urban shares the same 66kWh battery as the rear-wheel-drive Standard model, offering a claimed WLTP range of 441km. In real-world Singaporean driving conditions, a range of around 400km is a realistic expectation, which is more than adequate for typical weekly use.
A Question of Timing
The appeal of the Zeekr X Urban is intrinsically linked to the volatile dynamics of Singapore's COE system. When the price gap between Cat A and Cat B is significant, the Urban presents a compelling value proposition. However, with the premium difference narrowing to just a few thousand dollars in recent bidding exercises, the more powerful and better-equipped Standard variant, at only a $10,000 premium, becomes a tempting alternative.
For now, the Zeekr X Urban stands as a solid, stylish, and comfortable entry into the premium EV space.
